I visited Chicory Cafe, a coffee shop in town with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, with several people chatting and a few working without distraction. The real star was their mac and cheese – perfectly cooked and insanely flavorful. The price reflected the quality of ingredients used. I do wish they had a pour-over option, but overall, my coffee was great.
The service was lovely and friendly. I ordered a French Quarter Caramel Latte, which was delicious. The barista did such a great job that our coffee break ran into dinner. The food choices were great, especially the Mac and Cheese. The cashier helped me pick a latte, and it was fantastic. The mud turtle was so yummy. We also ordered jambalaya and beignets, and everything was delicious.
We experienced a long wait for our food, potentially due to being short-staffed. However, the food was so good that we totally forgot about the wait. The experience was fantastic, and I will definitely be back. I was slightly disappointed with the sandwiches and smoothies, but overall, the pit stop in South Bend was awesome. The place is cute, but the menu has potential to be better.
On another visit, we were there for First Friday and enjoyed free beignets with a purchase. The Sicilian salad and chicken po boy were good, and the hummus appetizer was enjoyable. Sadly, they ran out of spinach for the spinach artichoke dip, which was disappointing as we were looking forward to having it again.
Overall, my experience at Chicory Cafe was positive. The mac and cheese was exceptional, and the coffee was great. The service was friendly, and despite some small disappointments, I would still recommend the cafe for a pleasant and delicious dining experience.
