I visited Java House (Clay Terrace) and found it to be a beautiful shop just north of Indy. Unfortunately, I had to keep driving and couldn’t stay long. However, I noticed they offer meeting rooms for rent, which is an interesting feature. While the PSL I tried wasn’t the best of the year, I was disappointed to find out that they don’t really do espresso. I hope to stop by again and try their straight coffee to see if they can maintain their 5-star rating.
The first time I visited, I was greeted with kindness and the wonderful smell of cold brew coffee. The staff helped me navigate through the overwhelming options and gave me good advice based on my preferences. The Sumatran cold brew, with a pump of my favorite flavor, was absolutely delicious. I appreciated the various milk options available, and looking forward to exploring the menu.
On the downside, the coffee I received tasted more like chocolate milk, which left me unimpressed. Although the apple scone I tried was good, I’ve had better ones at other chains. Nevertheless, the service was great, and the barista was very nice. As a result, I’m not sure if I’ll return.
Java House is a conveniently-located, local cafe with a wide variety of coffee options and plenty of room to relax, meet, or work. The Ethiopian brew stood out to me as it had the right balance in taste, not too fruity nor too acidic. It’s a better alternative to big coffee chains, and I’d highly recommend trying it out.
