The MeCo Coffee Collective is a beloved coffee shop in downtown Longmont, with an outstanding 4.8 out of 5 average rating. On a Saturday morning, I experienced great atmosphere and an even better latte. The chocolate croissant was also excellent, and I appreciated the selection of neat local art and goods to shop. The presence of friendly staff and patrons added to the welcoming environment. Plus, the fact that the coffee shop is dog-friendly was a huge plus. However, it would be nice to have mugs to sip drinks from rather than disposable cups, even though I understand the need for lids in case of spills. Despite this, my first visit was a wonderful experience, and I left with the intention to return.
However, not all experiences were equally positive. My subsequent visits didn’t live up to the initial one. I had multiple disappointing experiences with the pastries – they were either not fresh as advertised or of poor quality. Additionally, the lack of napkins on two occasions was frustrating, especially when there was only one girl working both times. It was evident that she needed some assistance, not only with the tasks but also in terms of people skills. The inconsistency in the experiences made me feel like the service was lacking at times.
Despite these downsides, there were still highlights. The coffee was consistently great, and the customer service was genuine and kind. Also, the inclusion of gluten-free pastries was a welcomed addition, particularly the delightful apple upside-down pastry. The owner’s respectful and chatty nature added to the great ambiance.
