I had an okay experience at Highwire Coffee Roasters a few days ago. The latte lacked the strength and complexity I was expecting, and it was missing the espresso smelling notes and substantive crema as promised. The cappuccino was just average.
One thing I appreciate about this place is that they have their own roasted beans, which always gives a big plus in my book. The interior is spacious and clean, with plenty of tables and chairs for working. The outside patio is lovely, providing a fantastic spot to enjoy drinks and food while basking in the sun, surrounded by beautiful plants and succulents. The large jazz mural further adds to the ambience, earning a solid 5 rating from me.
I’m glad to know they use Slayer, but I was disappointed to find out that only two single origin whole beans were available, and both of them were out when I visited. I settled for an iced brew, which was nice, and the Latte and Cruel Palmer were lovely too. They do serve the best cappuccinos, and I enjoyed the variety of pastries available. However, I wish there were more options for lunch in the area.
Despite my disappointment on this visit, I still love this place. The drinks are delicious, the atmosphere is cozy and conducive to work or catch up with friends, and the pastries are excellent. I highly recommend the mochi muffins, and if you’re not into coffee, the matcha latte strikes a perfect balance of earthy matcha flavor and a hint of sweetness.
Highwire Coffee Roasters has been a staple in my coffee collection, and this location reflects what makes them exceptional. It’s a great place to sit down, unwind, or study/work, especially with dependable wifi. I might have rated it a 3 this time, but I plan to revisit in the future and will adjust my rating as warranted.
