I visited Mean Mug Coffeehouse Southside, a super cute coffee shop with modern urban decor. The sausage, egg and cheese + bacon biscuit was delicious and the cheesy grits were well seasoned and extra creamy, providing a great dining experience. The strawberry jam tasted fresh, like it was made in house, and the interior had ample seating.
On the downside, the cortado was a letdown and the pesto toast wasn’t up to par, with semi-toasted bread, melted shredded cheese, a squirt of pesto, and a hard-boiled egg.
During my visit, the free street parking or paid gravel lot parking were convenient options. The food took a while to come out, but the changing table in the bathroom was helpful, though the bathrooms were somewhat unclean.
The Cold Brew was strong for my liking, the Blueberry Scone was good, and The Denny received an average rating from my husband. The Breakfast Biscuit was notable for its size and fluffiness.
Despite the mixed reviews, Mean Mug Coffeehouse Southside is described as a nice place to stop when traveling to/from Atlanta/Nashville or while staying in Chattanooga.
Visiting from Florida, I fell in love with this place during my Labor Day weekend stay in Chattanooga. The excellent food, super friendly staff, and unbelievable prices left a lasting impression, making it a standout experience.
Most recently, I had a great experience at Mean Mug. The staff was really friendly, the food and drinks were amazing, and the space was super cozy. The avocado toast with smoked salmon and Morningstar sausage biscuit sandwich were impeccable. The London fog and matcha were also incredible. I highly recommend Mean Mug Coffeehouse Southside for those seeking a quality coffee shop experience in Chattanooga.
