I visited Hero Coffee Bar – Jackson in Chicago, which holds an impressive average rating of 4.5 out of 5. The coffee shop is tucked away in an alley, giving it a very cool vibe. But be prepared to wait outside for your drink if it’s busy, as the inside is small, especially during bad weather.

The immaculate vibes and alley with reggaeton/bachata music created a fantastic atmosphere, perfect for a solo date. I tried their summer special, the Rose Coconut Cold Brew, and loved the perfect amount of rose flavor. The Hero Bagel with Jalapeño bagel was super fresh and worth the 20-minute walk.

However, finding the place was extremely hard, and Google maps wasn’t helpful. The iced vanilla latte was good, but the limited seating area and cramped ordering space were a drawback. The outside seating area is small and quirky, playing 2000’s r&b music, but the prices are higher than average.

I found the atmosphere great at 11 am on a Friday morning, with a good breeze between the buildings and hardly anyone there. I easily found a seat right away. The oat milk latte was decent, but the almost $10 breakfast sandwiches were basic and not worth the price.
